Supercharge your E90

A few apps I’ve been using over the last couple of weeks are very impressive.

1. Tracker – Displays available RAM, internal memory and expandable card memory; its a task manager and application switcher on steroids; very easy and stable to use, it handles all processes extremely efficiently. Provides multiple ‘desktops’ for use, with each desktop customizable to your hearts content. You can put all the shortcuts you like (documents, applications, tasks etc) on there in a true multilayer desktop environment.

2. Papyrus – Excellent calendar management system, with customized display for the E90’s widescreen in its latest version. Completely takes over as system calendar and is 100% compatible with the Active Standby plug-in for tasks and appointments on the home screen.

3. VNC+ – Complete remote control of and interaction with your PC over the internet. For those of you who have used VNC or similar remote apps, you will love the tight integration and smooth control from the E90. Priceless for starting those essential downloads while you’re away from home ;) or emailing yourself that file you forgot on your home pc … amongst so many other possibilities.

4. ProfiMail – the daddy of all S60 email solutions. A fast and clean interface, with essential details about received emails painfully missing from the default S60 email client. I use Blackberry Connect for email notifications, but if i need to send and receive large attachments, Profimail handles those very efficiently. It also has split window view for message preview, making excellent use of the E90 widescreen.

5. Remind Me – This is such a great program. It reminds you at periodic intervals that you’ve received a text message, a missed phone call, a new email or a new voicemail that has not been acted upon by yourself. Simple concept, but its SO useful! I generally ignore a lot of new texts or missed calls when busy with work, and this app will remind me at set intervals with any combination of beeps, flashing screen or flashing keypad lights. Thanks to Ed for pointing it out – I would have never seen this if I didn’t visit his excellent blog regularly.

For the VNC+ app do you hav free access to everything or is it just limited to text documents?

@draguu: you have access to everything on your pc. as the screenshot shows, you can see the entire desktop on your e90 screen, and you can zoom in for better clarity. then you can control the pc cursor with the e90 d-pad.
